Last year all of the Secondary School Head Teachers in East Kent met to make a pledge to raise money for global Challenge UK. We took part in several of the fundraisers, including a 5-a-side football tournament and a quiz hosted at St. George’s secondary School. Global Challenge UK is a registered charity that has been working in Soroti, Uganda for the past decade. Funding and helping to run Crossroads School. They support most of the local children in the Soroti District and aim to provide the best education to the poorest children in Uganda. They also provide funding for medicine and operations that are needed. At least once a year they also send a team of specialist staff such as Speech & Language Therapists and experienced teachers, to meet with the school leaders and parents to run workshops and raise awareness of conditions such as those on the Autistic Spectrum. Cumulatively, all of the fundraising that has happened has helped to raise £32,000 to go towards the new building in the Soroti District.
